Bear is an elegant, focused Markdown note-taking app exclusively for Apple devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone). It is beloved by writers and developers for its clean interface, beautiful typography, and thoughtful design. Bear strikes a perfect balance between simplicity and power, offering just enough features to be incredibly useful without the bloat of more complex tools.
Notes in Bear are written in Markdown with a visual preview that renders formatting inline as you type. You can organize notes using hashtags (which act as nested folders), and the search is fast and powerful. Bear supports images, sketches, code blocks with syntax highlighting, tables, and file attachments. The editor supports multiple themes, including a popular dark mode, and the typography is some of the best in any note-taking app.
Bear syncs seamlessly across all Apple devices using iCloud. The export options are extensive, supporting Markdown, HTML, PDF, Word, JPG, and more. Bear also has a handy web clipper for Safari and a quick capture feature for jotting down ideas on the go.
Pricing: Free version with basic features and limited export options. Bear Pro is $2.99/month or $29.99/year, unlocking advanced export, themes, encryption, and syncing across devices. There is no team or business plan; Bear is a personal tool.
Best for: Writers, bloggers, developers, journalists, students, and any moonlite on Apple devices who wants a fast, beautiful, distraction-free writing and note-taking experience. Ideal for content drafting, journaling, and quick capture of ideas.
