Smokin' Ed Currie is the founder of PuckerButt Pepper Company and the creator of the world's hottest peppers, including the Carolina Reaper (certified by Guinness World Records) and Pepper X. He is the most recognizable figure in the hot sauce and specialty pepper industry, frequently featured on major media outlets including Epicurious, Hot Ones, and business publications.

His content and expertise covers breeding and cultivating the world's hottest peppers, building a hot sauce brand from a home kitchen to a global business, the science of capsaicin and Scoville heat measurement, product development for specialty food brands, retail distribution strategy for specialty food products, brand building through viral content and world records, the economics of the craft hot sauce industry, and entrepreneurship in the specialty food space.

What makes Ed exceptional is his unique position as both a plant breeder/scientist and an entrepreneur. He did not just create hot sauces — he created entirely new pepper varieties that changed the industry. The Carolina Reaper became a cultural phenomenon, spawning countless challenge videos and making PuckerButt a household name in the spicy food community. His peppers are now the base ingredients for hundreds of other hot sauce brands.

Ed monetizes through PuckerButt Pepper Company direct sales (sauces, powders, seeds, and live plants), wholesale distribution to retailers and restaurants, licensing and partnerships with other food brands, media appearances and speaking engagements, YouTube and social media content revenue, and pepper seed sales to growers worldwide.

For Moonlite users, Ed represents the ultimate specialty food success story. The craft hot sauce market has exploded, growing from a niche hobby to a multi-billion dollar industry. His journey from backyard pepper grower to world record holder and brand owner shows how passion, innovation, and content can build a food empire.
