Nick True is a financial coach, budgeting expert, and the creator of Mapped Out Money — one of the most popular budgeting education channels on YouTube with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Nick is best known as the internet's foremost YNAB (You Need A Budget) educator, with his YNAB tutorial videos having been viewed millions of times and credited by YNAB themselves as essential learning resources. Beyond YNAB, Nick teaches comprehensive budgeting methodology, helping people build systems for managing their money that actually stick long-term.

Content covers YNAB mastery — the most comprehensive YNAB tutorials on the internet, from beginner setup to advanced techniques like wish farms, age of money, and credit card management, zero-based budgeting — the philosophy and practice of giving every dollar a job before the month begins, budgeting for irregular income — systems for freelancers, commission earners, and anyone without a predictable paycheck, debt payoff planning — using budgeting as the foundation for systematic debt elimination, budgeting for couples — navigating shared finances, different spending styles, and financial communication in relationships, financial coaching methodology — Nick's approach to helping people change their financial behavior, not just their financial knowledge, budgeting software comparisons — reviews and tutorials for YNAB, Monarch Money, EveryDollar, and other budgeting tools, sinking funds and savings goals — creating targeted savings categories for irregular expenses like car repairs, vacations, and annual bills, budgeting mindset — addressing the psychological resistance to budgeting and reframing it as a tool for freedom rather than restriction, and cash flow management — understanding and optimizing the timing of income and expenses.

What makes Nick exceptional is his gift for making budgeting — a topic most people find tedious and restrictive — feel empowering and achievable. His YNAB tutorials are so well-produced and comprehensive that they've become the de facto onboarding resource for new YNAB users, even referenced by the company itself. Nick's teaching style is calm, clear, and judgment-free — he never shames people for their financial situations and instead focuses on building systems that create lasting change. His financial coaching background means he understands the behavioral and emotional aspects of budgeting, not just the mechanics. He has helped thousands of people go from living paycheck-to-paycheck to having complete control over their finances.

Nick monetizes through his financial coaching practice, YouTube ad revenue (400K+ subscribers), online budgeting courses, affiliate partnerships with budgeting software, and his website mappedoutmoney.com.

For Moonlite users, budgeting is the foundation of all personal finance success — without knowing where your money goes, no investment strategy, side hustle, or salary increase will build lasting wealth. Nick True provides the most accessible and comprehensive budgeting education available, whether you use YNAB or any other system. His content is especially valuable for people who have tried budgeting before and failed, as his approach addresses the behavioral and psychological reasons budgets fall apart, not just the technical setup.
