Katie Read is a licensed therapist turned business coach who helps mental health professionals build thriving private practices through her Therapy Business School platform. She focuses on the business side of therapy — the part that most clinical training programs completely ignore — teaching therapists how to fill their caseloads, set sustainable rates, market themselves ethically, and avoid burnout while running a practice.

Her content covers private practice startup — step-by-step guides for therapists launching their own practices including incorporation, insurance paneling vs. private pay decisions, and office setup, marketing for therapists — ethical client acquisition strategies including Psychology Today optimization, local SEO, referral network building, and social media marketing that respects clinical boundaries, financial management for therapy practices — setting rates, understanding insurance reimbursement, managing overhead, and building toward a six-figure practice, group practice scaling — transitioning from solo practitioner to group practice owner by hiring associates and building systems, burnout prevention for clinicians — managing caseload, setting boundaries, and building a practice structure that supports therapist wellbeing, and niche development — helping therapists identify and market to their ideal client population for better outcomes and higher revenue.

What makes Katie valuable is that she bridges the massive gap between clinical training and business acumen. Most therapists graduate with excellent clinical skills but zero business training, leaving them underpaid, overwhelmed, and struggling to fill their schedules. Katie provides the practical, step-by-step business education that clinical programs fail to deliver, all within a framework that respects the ethical considerations unique to mental health practice.

Katie monetizes through her Therapy Business School courses, coaching programs for therapists, her podcast, and digital products including practice templates and marketing guides.

For Moonlite users who are therapists, counselors, or mental health professionals looking to build profitable private practices, Katie Read provides the specific business education designed for the unique challenges and ethical considerations of the mental health field.
