Derek Bieri is the creator behind Vice Grip Garage, one of the most popular automotive restoration channels on YouTube with approximately 2.5 million subscribers and a spin-off TV show "Roadworthy Rescues" on MotorTrend. Known for his infectious enthusiasm and signature catchphrase-heavy style, Derek rescues abandoned and forgotten classic vehicles from barns, fields, and garages across America, getting them running and back on the road.

His content covers classic car restoration on a budget, barn find discoveries and rescues, vintage vehicle diagnostics and repair, engine rebuilding and troubleshooting, automotive electrical systems, budget-friendly restoration techniques, road trip adventures in rescued vehicles, tractor and motorcycle restoration, vintage car culture and history, and building a restoration business from passion. His videos combine entertainment with genuine mechanical education.

What makes Vice Grip Garage exceptional is Derek's authenticity and approachability. Unlike highly produced car shows, his content features real budget builds, genuine problem-solving, and the raw excitement of getting a neglected vehicle to fire up for the first time in decades. His "run and drive" format — where he finds a vehicle, gets it running, and drives it home — has created a unique format that has spawned countless imitators.

Derek monetizes through YouTube ad revenue (2.5M subscribers), his MotorTrend TV show "Roadworthy Rescues," the Vice Grip Lodge secondary YouTube channel, brand partnerships with automotive parts suppliers, merchandise sales through vicegripgarage.com, vehicle sales from restored projects, and speaking engagements at car shows. His trajectory from auto tech to corporate job to full-time YouTube creator shows how passion can be more profitable than a traditional career.

For Moonlite users, Derek Bieri represents the ultimate passion-to-profit creator story. The classic car and restoration market is valued at $40B+, and his ability to build a 2.5M subscriber channel plus a TV deal from a garage and a camera proves that authentic enthusiasm for a craft can outperform polished production. His content has also revitalized interest in affordable classic car ownership among younger audiences.
