Austin Jenkins, known online as Inspector AJ, is one of the most followed home inspectors on social media with nearly 2 million followers on TikTok. He has built a massive audience by creating short-form educational content for homeowners and humorously showcasing the most outrageous defects he finds during home inspections.

Content covers home inspection red flags every buyer should know, the most shocking defects found in home inspections, house flip fails and contractor shortcuts exposed, educational content about electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural issues, what to look for when buying a home, home inspector day-in-the-life content, new construction inspection issues, home maintenance tips for first-time homeowners, entertaining inspection fail compilations, and the business of home inspection — inspiring others to enter the profession.

What makes Inspector AJ exceptional is his ability to make home inspection content genuinely entertaining while remaining deeply educational. His short-form TikTok and Instagram Reels format makes complex home issues accessible to younger homebuyers (millennials and Gen Z entering the housing market). He strikes the perfect balance between humor and expertise, which has driven his content to go viral repeatedly and build one of the largest home inspection followings on any platform.

Austin monetizes through his home inspection business, social media brand partnerships, sponsored content, affiliate partnerships with home improvement products, and the massive local business referrals his viral content generates. His social media presence has essentially become a client acquisition machine — homebuyers in his area seek him out specifically because of his online reputation.

For Moonlite users, home inspection is an excellent service business to start. Certification typically takes 2-4 months, startup costs are $5,000-15,000, and inspectors charge $300-600+ per inspection. Inspector AJ demonstrates how combining genuine expertise with entertaining social media content can scale a local service business far beyond its geographic boundaries — building both a thriving inspection practice and a media brand with nearly 2 million followers.
