Fix: YouTube + free blog posts first. Buy a course only AFTER you've started and hit a specific roadblock.
2. Starting 5 Things at Once ($0 but months wasted)
Tried 
Dropshipping, freelancing, print-on-demand, AND affiliate marketing at the same time. Made $0 at all of them.
Fix: Pick ONE hustle. Give it 90 days of real effort before pivoting.
3. Overspending on Branding Too Early ($800)
Custom logo, brand guidelines, professional business cards — before I had a single customer.
Fix: Use Canva for a basic logo. Spend money on branding AFTER you've validated with real sales.
4. Not Tracking Expenses (~$600 in missed deductions)
Didn't track business expenses for 8 months. Lost hundreds in tax deductions I couldn't claim.
Fix: Use Wave (free) from day one. Photograph every receipt.
5. Pricing Too Low to "Get Experience" ($1,200+ in undercharging)
Charged $200 for projects worth $800 because I "needed the portfolio." Attracted terrible clients who wanted revisions forever.
Fix: Research market rates. Charge at least 70% of average from the start.
6. Ignoring Email Lists (massive opportunity cost)
Had 2,000 Etsy customers and never built an email list. That's $2K–$5K in repeat sales left on the table.
Fix: Start collecting emails from day one with free Mailchimp or MailerLite.
7. Paying for Ads Before Organic ($450)
Ran Facebook ads for a product with zero reviews and no social proof. Burned $450 with 2 sales.
Fix: Get your first 20–50 sales organically. Then use ads to scale what's already working.
8. Not Reinvesting Profits (stunted growth)
Took every dollar out immediately instead of reinvesting in what was working.
Fix: Reinvest at least 30% of profits for the first 6 months.
