I’m a beginner and trying to decide what kind of product I should start with.
I'm researching between high ticket and low ticket items. For example, on the high ticket side, I’ve been looking at things like office chairs that sell for around $800. The profit per sale might be around $100.
On the other side, I’ve looked at low ticket products like kitchen items, knives, spatulas, basic home stuff. Those usually make somewhere between $5 and $20 per sale.
What’s confusing me is the trade off.
High ticket sounds nice because you don’t need many sales. Selling one expensive item can feel easier than selling ten or twenty cheap ones. But it also feels risky. If there’s a return, shipping issue, or the customer isn’t happy, that’s a bigger hit.
Low ticket feels safer. If something goes wrong, it’s not a big loss. But the margins are small, so you need a lot more volume to make it worthwhile.
Since this is my first time doing dropshipping, I’m not sure which direction makes more sense. I know it’s not just about ads. You also have to deal with suppliers, shipping, quality, and returns, and I don’t have experience with any of that yet.
For those of you who’ve actually done this, what would you recommend starting with? High ticket or low ticket?
