The real reason some tiny creators outsell big influencers

Sell a course

I used to assume that big influencers always win huge following, polished setups and crazy engagement. But the more I dig into the course world the more I keep seeing the opposite
small creators with tiny followings quietly making way more money than people with massive audiences.

And the crazy part is this It almost never comes down to production quality or flashy marketing.
It usually comes down to trust.

  • Tiny creators talk directly to people.
  • They answer DMs.
  • They remember names.

They niche down so hard that their course feels like it was made for one very specific human and weirdly enough that ends up being their superpower.

Meanwhile a lot of big influencers are broadcasting to everyone which means they are not really speaking deeply to anyone. Their audience is huge but not connected in the same way.

I keep seeing small creators win because:

  • They solve a painfully specific problem

  • Their followers actually feel seen

  • They do not pretend to be gurus

  • Their content feels like a conversation, not a pitch

  • They are honest about what they know and what they do not

  • Their audience trusts them enough to buy without being sold to

It makes me rethink the whole build a massive audience first idea.
Maybe the thing that really matters is not size it is connection.

If you have seen this happen too or lived it yourself, I would love to hear your take.
