Why Some TikTok Shop Affiliates Earn $0 and Others Earn Thousands

Tiktok shop affiliate

A lot of people exaggerate earnings, so here’s what things really look like based on Reddit posts, TikTok threads, and news stories.

Real Earnings People Report

Beginners / small creators:
Most people starting out make around $50–$300 a month in the first few months once they get consistent. It mostly depends on how often you post and whether your hooks are good.

UK “mum” creators:
There are real stories of mums earning £700+ in a month or even £30k+ in a year by promoting higher-ticket home brands (Shark, Ninja, etc.).

Big picture:
TikTok Shop moved about $19B globally in Q3 2025, with $4–4.5B from the US alone (about the size of eBay).
So the opportunity is real, but not evenly distributed.

Who makes the most?

  • Top creators: huge money

  • Consistent people: solid side income

  • Inconsistent people: usually nothing

Pros (Why People Like It)

  • No inventory, no shipping, no customer service

  • You can start with products you already own

  • TikTok can push your videos even if you’re small

  • Opens doors to UGC and paid brand deals

Cons (The Stuff Nobody Tells You)

  • TikTok rules and eligibility change all the time

  • Tons of scams: fake shops, fake login pages, “affiliate apps” with malware

  • Everyone promotes the same viral products → massive competition

  • Income is super inconsistent (good month → dead month)
