Lets get into it:
1. Don’t buy a mountain of inventory.
Start with 25/50/100 pieces max. Most beginners convince themselves that “bulk is cheaper,” and then reality smacks them. Something will go wrong, wrong sizing, stitching issues, bad fabric batch, or the sample didn’t match the final product. Then you’re stuck with boxes you can’t sell and cash you can’t get back.
2. You don’t need a perfect tech pack to begin.
Manufacturers on Alibaba, IndiaMart, etc., can guide you if they already produce similar items. They’ll help you turn your idea into a real product, even if you’re not a designer.
3. Talk to multiple manufacturers, even if you don’t plan to use them.
Hop on calls, ask questions, compare samples. You’ll understand pricing, capabilities, and red flags much faster. Treat it like research, not commitment.
4. Don’t spend your early money on ads.
Use that cash to build a real community.
Go to events, hand out flyers with a discount code, collab with small brands, host a meetup. Meeting people in person builds trust faster than burning money on Meta or Google ads.
5. Start collecting emails and phone numbers from Day 1.
Pop-ups aren’t annoying, they’re money. A good pop-up can drive 30–50% of your revenue. Give people a solid first-time offer and use your list for drops, early access, and sales.
Bonus:
Keep your branding consistent across everything, IG, website, packaging, emails. When everything feels aligned, customers trust your brand without you even having to say a word.
