If you want a way out of the job you’re in right now, detailing is honestly the best place to start. And I’m not saying that because I teach it. I’m saying it because of how simple it is compared to almost every other business model out there.
When you look at things like ecommerce, you’re competing with Amazon. You’re competing with people who have massive budgets, you’re competing with huge supply chains, you need to know ads, you need to know product validation, psychology, content, all that stuff. It's not easy.
Detailing is as simple as:
- Learn how to clean a car
- Get good enough at it to deliver a clean result
- Show people the before and after
- Let your network refer you
- Repeat
That’s really it.
And the thing I like to remind people of is
Every person has a car.
There’s an insane amount of volume. You’re not fighting against a billion-dollar corporation. You’re not even competing with the guy down the street half the time, because you’re serving different niches. Some people want express service. Some want premium. Some want ceramic coatings. Some only care about convenience. There’s space for everybody.
People think you need skills for this. You really don’t. You just have to be somebody who enjoys cleaning or organizing or doing things step by step. If you’re detail-oriented and you like seeing something go from dirty to spotless, you’re going to get dopamine hits all day doing this. You just have to throw yourself at the problem enough times.
The only way you fail is if you quit.
And unlike a lot of opportunity-based stuff you see online, this is real. This is local. This is stuff you can start today with your car, your parents’ car, your friends’ cars. There’s no certification required. You don’t need to know code. You don’t need to run ads on day one. You don’t have to build some complicated funnel. You don’t have to open a shop.
You take $500 to $600 worth of supplies, you take pictures of your work, you exhaust your referral network, and you’re in business.
If you want to become your own boss without needing some crazy skill set, detailing is genuinely the simplest path you can take.
