I always thought the real work starts once you have actual products. Nope. People judge your brand way before that. The logo, the colors, the fonts, apparently that’s where everyone decides if your brand feels premium or just… cheap.
So today was pure branding mode.
Color Psychology was kind of a wake up call
I used to pick colors just because they looked nice. Now I’m like… wow, colors actually have personalities. Black feels premium and minimal. Beige feels cozy and lifestyle-ish. White looks clean and modern. Pastels feel soft and friendly. Red = hype energy.
Once I picked two main colors and one accent, everything suddenly felt more like a brand and less like a school project. It’s crazy how something as small as color codes can change the whole vibe.
Fonts changed the whole mood
The same name in different fonts looked like completely different brands.
Some made it look childish.
Some made it look luxury.
Some just… felt off.
Montserrat ended up being the perfect middle ground, clean, modern, and something you’d actually see on a clothing tag. It instantly made everything look more legit.
The Logo didn’t need to be deep
I kept trying complicated ideas at first, and honestly, they all looked cheap.
The simple wordmark won. Just the brand name, clean typography, black and white versions, transparent PNG.
The moment I dropped it onto hoodie mockups in Canva and Placeit, it hit me, this looks like something that already exists. Still no inventory. Still nothing physically made. But the visuals made it feel real
What I learned today
Branding isn’t extra.
Branding is trust.
The right colors, a clean font, and a simple logo can make a brand look expensive before a single product is made. Today didn’t involve fabric or printing or samples, just visuals, but somehow, it feels like the brand took a massive step forward.
