Been going down the cybersecurity rabbit hole lately and I keep seeing people say you don’t need a degree to break in or just focus on skills, certs, and maybe build a lab.
But when I look at job listings, almost all of them still say “bachelor’s required” or ask for years of experience. So I’m stuck wondering how are people actually getting in?
If you landed your first job or freelance work without a college degree, how’d you pull it off? Did you go through certs like Security+, or just learn on your own and network your way in?
Would really appreciate hearing from people who made it work outside the traditional path. Not looking for a perfect roadmap just real stories that show it’s possible.
