Passive income: NO
Selling Lightroom presets can potentially lead to passive income, but achieving true passivity is challenging for most individuals. While it is possible to set up automated systems for marketing and sales, ongoing updates to presets and customer support may still require active involvement. Setup costs range from $50 to $200 for software and initial marketing expenses. Time to profit varies, with some sellers seeing returns within 2 weeks, while others may take several months. From my observations, only a few sellers on platforms like Etsy or Creative Market have achieved significant passive income from Lightroom presets. Most individuals may need to continuously create new presets and engage with customers to maintain sales. It becomes passive for those who can consistently create high-quality presets that cater to a niche market, while others may struggle to stand out among competitors. Misleading expectations often involve underestimating the time and effort required to keep the business running smoothly.
