This is basically for people who are using their own existing clothes. I wouldn't say you have to go out and buy clothes just for this. Obviously, the more clothes and the nicer clothes the better, but this is something that is basically free.
You could always go out and buy a nice, new piece of clothes that you think would rent well, but definitely not required.
