Passive income: NO

Game writer
Earning passive income as a game writer is challenging and rare. Most game writing requires active involvement, such as creating scripts, dialogue, and storylines, which are not easily automated or outsourced. While some writers might earn royalties from games they’ve contributed to, this is not common and usually applies to well-established writers working on successful projects. From my experience and observations on platforms like Reddit and YouTube, most game writers do not achieve passive income solely from writing. The industry often requires continuous engagement and adaptation to new projects. A few outliers might achieve passive income through royalties or by creating a successful game that continues to sell, but this is not the norm. Many aspiring game writers fall for the myth that they can write a game once and earn indefinitely, but this expectation is misleading. Realistically, passive income in game writing is more achievable for those who have established a strong reputation and have worked on high-profile projects. For most, it remains an active endeavor.
