Passive income: NO

Earning passive income directly from web development as a side hustle is challenging and rare. Most web development work is project-based, requiring active involvement. To make it passive, one would need to create a product like a SaaS (Software as a Service) or a web application that generates recurring revenue. This requires significant upfront work, technical expertise, and often a team for maintenance and updates. From my experience and observations on platforms like Reddit and YouTube, only a few outliers achieve true passivity. These are typically individuals who have successfully launched a popular web app or service. Most people in web development continue to trade time for money, as passive income requires a scalable product and a market fit. Common myths include the belief that building a website or app will automatically generate passive income. In reality, it involves continuous marketing, updates, and customer support. Realistically, it becomes passive for those with entrepreneurial skills, technical expertise, and the ability to identify and solve a market need. It doesn’t become passive for those who only focus on client-based projects or lack the resources to scale a product.
