Dropshipping has very low passive income potential — this is fundamentally an active business.
Why it's NOT passive:
- Ads need daily monitoring and optimization
- Customer service requires same-day responses
- Products have a short lifecycle — you're always finding new ones
- Supplier issues happen without warning
- Ad creatives need constant refreshing to combat fatigue
Can it become more passive?
- Hire VAs for customer service and order processing ($500-$1,000/month)
- Use automation tools for order routing
- Build a brand with organic traffic and email lists (reduces ad dependency)
Even with systems in place, expect 10-15 hours/week minimum for a profitable dropshipping operation. This is one of the least passive e-commerce models.
