Passive income: NO

Amazon fba

Amazon FBA has moderate passive income potential — it's not fully passive, but it gets significantly hands-off once established.

What's passive:

  • Amazon handles storage, picking, packing, shipping, returns, and customer service
  • Sales happen 24/7 without your involvement
  • Established products with strong rankings can sell consistently for months

What's NOT passive:

  • Inventory reordering (running out = losing ranking)
  • PPC campaign monitoring and optimization
  • Responding to listing hijackers or IP complaints
  • Monitoring competitors and adjusting pricing
  • New product launches require active work

Passive potential over time:

  • Months 1-6: Very active — 15-20 hrs/week
  • Months 6-12: Semi-passive — 5-10 hrs/week
  • Year 2+: Can be 2-5 hrs/week with systems in place, or hire a VA for $500-$1,000/month to handle day-to-day

FBA is one of the most "passive-able" e-commerce models because Amazon does the heavy operational lifting. But truly passive income requires either hiring help or accepting some risk that issues go unnoticed.
